In the build of our home there was never a problem too great she could not solve.  We were grateful for her management style, which allowed her to step in and make sense of measurements and overall design when dealing with so many sub-contractors. 

With her architectural background she was able to take our basic design concept and create a space that perfectly met what we envisioned. In total, we couldn’t more highly recommend Ensign Shaffer for a custom home build.

Tari Ensign designed and was the general contractor for our custom four-season free-standing green house. Tari made multiple visits to our home to make sure she understood what we wanted. When work stared, she provided an amazing group of experience and talented subcontractors to do the work. Tari was either on site or in touch every day to let us know what was happening. Result is a solid, weathertight, and aesthetically pleasing green house. We are very pleased and impressed with Tari’s work, she is an experienced and extremely competent architect and contractor.  

When we were choosing a contractor, we understood the importance of choosing someone that we could work with closely as they were going to be a big part of our lives. Tari is the rare contractor that we call a friend. Unlike other horror stories out there we are closer with her today than the day we started and would work with her again in a heartbeat!

When my husband and I decided to do a complete remodel of our entire house; I reached out to Tari Ensign.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Tari for over 30 years and have seen her absolute love of architecture for all the years I have known her.  Her dedication to her field and her dedication to her clients is astounding.  Tari was always available anytime I called or e-mailed regarding our home remodel.  She came over to my home to get know exactly what we were looking at and provided some wonderful feedback and ideas for our project.  We had structural walls that we wanted to come down in both the basement and the living room/kitchen and Tari was well versed and knowledgeable of what needed to be done to make my "open concept" come to fruition!  We were so pleased with Tari's design of our new basement and kitchen/living room and she really took our wants and needs into the design she provided for our remodel.  I could not recommend Tari enough to anyone for any type of project, whether a new home design or a remodel of an existing home.

My wife and I bought a new home in Lakewood. We loved nearly everything about the house, but the basement was not built out. We wanted to make finishing the basement a priority, but we only had some
very rough ideas of what we wanted or could afford.
We turned to Tari Ensign for some suggestions and references. Tari came to the house, asked us lots of very apropos questions, examined the basement and took a few measurements. She promised to get back to us in a few days.
Tari, at her word, returned to meet with us with a complete draft design for finishing the basement and at a very manageable cost. Her ideas matched beautifully with ours, but she had gone beyond our vague thoughts and created a downstairs that would be a completion of our home.
Once we gave her the go-ahead, Tari took on the design process with a mixture of her creativity, sensitivity, warmth and sense of humor.
We love what Tari did for us, and we will be in touch with her when we have neighbors and friends who need Tari's skills and imagination to complete and enhance their homes.

We selected Tari Ensign to design our home over other designers as she listened to what we wanted and needed, and then folded that into a fabulous custom home.  Other designers seemed to have a ‘We’ll take it from here and you will like it’ attitude that did not work well with us.  We had already looked at literally thousands of floor plans and exteriors and had a good idea of what we wanted. 

Tari kept us on track and was always quick to provide her comments when we went ‘over the top’ on our desires compared to our budget.  She was flexible and creative, and her design was so complete that it sailed through the Regional Building Department and passed with no comments.  She has a great sense of style and function and is very detail oriented.  We built our home in a forest setting and Tari captured the appropriate Craftsman Style home for this setting.  We love our home and we are complemented by everyone that sees this home. 

Tari was very professional and a joy to work with on the design and construction of our custom home. She understood our design concept and the result was perfect. My Wife and I highly recommend her.

 Tari provided me with a talented crew for the pop-top project she designed.  She even personally attended to any punch-list items.  The result was an amazing looking addition that my neighbors applaud for "fitting into the neighborhood”.

Tari Ensign helped me design a home in Breckenridge Colorado. She did an amazing job from beginning to end, listening to all our concerns and wants. In the end, after multiple meetings, we were able to get the home of our dreams designed. The biggest thing I appreciated was her attention to detail. She studied, in depth, the city and county restrictions and guidelines to help us make sure were we staying complainant with all local ordinances. We engaged Tari Ensign to design a home addition on our property in Colorado. The main goal was to have an aging in place apartment for our parents and to also repurpose some areas of the existing house for better functionality. Tari took ample time to understand our style, needs, and objectives and provided multiple ideas and drafts for our consideration. She clearly explained the concepts, helped us virtually see the options, and shared recommendations in order for us to make decisions. Tari has great vision which resulted in an optimal design for our home.

We conducted a search for a general contractor/builder and Tari’s proposal was our top choice our of four. Again, we had an excellent experience in working with Tari as the designer and knew she would bring the same energy to the full build project. She worked with us through the contracting and budgeting process and was the most flexile in coming to terms that were mutually beneficial. We did not have to finance the project and self-funded the work.

Tari selected sub-contractors from her network for each trade based on a combination of her experience and our preferences. She did a good job managing the multi-party communication between all 4 of us clients and the many subcontractors involved. The few issues that arose as expected were promptly addressed and handled with grace and professionalism. Tari always had our best interests in mind when decisions were made, and quality wasn’t compromised at any point.

The project was completed and at the 12-month-post-build mark, Tari walked through the necessary maintenance items with us. The “punch list” was short and only included minor items to address.

Tari was attentive and went above and beyond in the amount of time spent on our project to ensure success and complete satisfaction. We have received many compliments from neighbors, family and friends regarding the quality of craftsmanship and recognition that the addition looks like it has always been part of the original house because of the design and build details. This achievement is purely due to Tari’s involvement from the beginning of the design through the build. We appreciate the relationship developed with Tari and will work with her again if we have the opportunity to build in the future!
